Manga Review: Amatsuki

Status: Read up to Chapter 7

I encountered Amatsuki as an anime first. I was curious when someone mentioned that it had a manga counterpart. I am the kind of person who would prefer reading/watching the original work before seeing the other version.

The story is not so unusual. It involves alternate worlds and realities. The mangaka chose to portray it via the VR (Virtual Reality) technology. The protagonist arrives at this other world when he encounters two unusual types of monsters, which he, at first, thin…ks of as part of the VR programming. However, he soon realizes that he is not in the VR world that he had come from. In the story, this is done quite seamlessly that you have to wonder how it could have happened. There are events that happen in the manga that make you realize that there is more to the “accidentally-being-in-an-alternate-dimension” coincidence, which we have experienced many times in a manga story. What makes this story different in my opinion is the unique way of how the mangaka portrays it.

Ja ne, DiYD.II

I’ve decided on a name! It was inspired (ok, more like ripped off) from a manga that I like.

Thanks to this particular image, I decided on Amatsuki: Amayo no Tsuki for a name! XD

DYiD.II

So I decided to fix this site a little. I thought the former design looked pretty bland, so I thought to find a theme that would allow me to customize my header. I used some graphics and textures that I found previously in Aethereality Gallery to make my banner and ta-da! I had my design!

Jumping on the bandwagon …for the nth time.

Once again, I have entered into the blogging world.

My first blog was in Xanga and it contained entries about basically anything that came into mind–what happened to me that day, my current manga obsession, the occasional deep thought, dreams, and the bishounens that cross my path. They were classic “Dear Diary” moments and even if, inwardly, I know that it would seem amusing (because I am totally detailed on how I write my entries) to the outside reader, I’m quite glad that I wrote those entries.
