Shoujo Fangirl No More?
June 23, 2008It seems that I’ve read and watched more shounen genres as of late. Which isn’t a bad thing. ^^; I just find it a bit curious on my part since I was a, dare I say it, hardcore shoujo fan. I’m not kidding. I lived for those sappy, romantic story lines. And that was for a long, long time. I say this with a straight face too. XD
Oh, of course I’ve read and watched some shounen stuff before but I wasn’t really that interested enough to actually search for the good titles.
I’ve only become interested in the shounen genre around last year (or was it last, last year?). It’s a bit of a shame though. Whenever I go to look for shounen stuff to download, they’re usually licensed. T_T
It doesn’t mean that I’ve completely converted to shounen though. I don’t exactly go crazy for the bouncing big boobs, panty shots and the fan service that even some good shounen titles have. I find them distracting. XD I still choose bishounens over moe lolitas too. ^^; (This doesn’t mean that I choose shounen titles purely for the good-looking guys. It’s a factor but not entirely. ^^;)
I suppose I can conclude that I’m not a shallow close-minded fangirl anymore. I still have my preferences but at least I’m not closing my doors on the different genres that are present. Hooray!
P.S. I guess it’s embarrassing to admit that I’ve only been more open-minded regarding manga/anime genres only in recent years but, as they say, better late than never. ^_~
Note: This is a double post in my MAL Blog. ^^
